G Money

So, I don't have biological brothers, but I do have some good non blood related stand ins.  One happens to be G Money Dupre.  He may not feel the same (but I bet he does), but he is like my little bro.  So is Hambone.  Any who, last weekend was the winter formal and he manned up and asked someone to go with him.  I was both 100% shocked and 100% proud.  Plus 25% a bit sad that he's officially growing up. Sorry, I know that does not mathematically make sense, but who is counting here.  So of course I had to go over there and take some awkward pics...  I have to say- homeboy was looking very good.
Lucky guy getting to hang with these girls:)

Oh, the times they are a changing.  I'm getting old...

Who would have thought

Progress.  Has been made.  Dare I say that my fashion life has taken a turn for the better.  Progress has been made.  Yesterday, I decided that I needed some therapy.  Retail therapy that is.  I finally bit the bullet and decided that it was time to invest in some boots.  I had been looking for a year (it takes me a while to commit) at cowboy boots.  So I decided to pop into the Boot jack while at the office yesterday.  I immediately went to the frye boots, but they only went to size 10.  Bummer.  I found a beautiful pair of tall brown ones that I liked.  I didn't not realize how insecure and unconfident my shopping skills were until it was go time.  I had to call 2 separate people to get their opinions.  I also made the poor young boy who worked there look at them form all angles...  I finally decided to just go for it.  Not going to lie- I was pretty excited.  I need to do this more often...  Oh my poor debit card.. Now I just need some cool and trendy boot socks to go with them.  I also need someone to teach me boot etiquette.  I then went to get Biz's bachelorette present.  Another traumatizing ten minutes of my life taken from me.   Then I headed home.  I must have tried on 5 different pairs of pants to match the boots.  Poor Betsy.  I went into her room a whole lot for her fashion wisdom.. Sorry Betty.  I finally decided to take a chance.  I bought a new pair of dark sassy jeans last year.  Well they didn't exactly fit (I'm sure you want to hear this..) so I through them into the back of the closet.  Well, I put them on and BOOM!  They fit.  They were a lil tight, but I got em on.   (Thanks to morning walks and no cokes) Not gonna lie- they looked purdy good.  Sassy Sarah was ready to roll to Biz's bachelorette.  It's amazing what I new outfit will do to one's confidence.

The bachelorette party:
Long story short- we ate, had the shower, laughed and the limo picked us up at 10pm.  Louis was our driver.  And protector.  And crosswalk supervisor.  I think he saved my life on 3 separate accounts last night.  I had a tendency to pop out of the limo into the open road.  Sorry.  We were on a bachelorette scavenger hunt that Rosemary jr invented.  It was pretty awesome.  We went lots of places.  Did lots of things and took many a picture.  Saw Caleb and Rob out for Caleb's bday.  Lil triangle of trust session at the Dollar.  We had tasks to complete at each stop.  The new boots definitely enriched my dance moves.  I mean, I now I have some rhythm, but the boots have changed my life. And maybe the jeans.  I was dancing up a storm.  Halfway through the hunt I decided that it would be more fun to pretend I was lady Ga Ga.  Normal right?  I also got to control the limo music.  We sang 5 o'clock in morning multiple times along with some Rihanna.  So classy.  3 hours later, I was dragging my self up and down Charleston, counting the minutes until it was over.  I felt like I was on the amazing race.  My energy and charisma had been depleted.  So fun though.  I did make one very terrible mistake last night.  One of the tasks was to have an oyster shooter at pearlz.  So gross.  If someone ever offers you one- RUN.  I have had one before, but this one was blah.  Its a drink with a raw oyster in it.  They say to swallow the thing whole, so I tried.  But it was so gross that I thought I was going to choke.  Then I had to chew it- in order to not die.  Terrible mistake.  After that- I posted up in the limo.  Never to regain my strength.  We headed home for some late night pizza, candy hearts and a wicked dance party.  I put on my polar bear pjs and my boots and rocked it.  All in all- I'd say it was a SUCCESS!!!!!  I can't wait for the wedding:)

these boots were made for dancing,

The cost of beauty

Stop.  The following words are highly dramatic.  Read at your own risk:
The anxiety and panic set in on Thursday.  The eve of my dermatology appointment.  I realized that I was 26 and was too scared to get my ears pierced at Claire's.  So of course, I opted for the high maintenance route of going to Dr. Stafford.  So yesterday I had to go pick out some earrings.  Terrible experience.  Now I know why I don't like this stuff.  I picked out some bling bling and some of that clear stuff that you clean your ear with. (Reason #2398 why I could never get other piercings or a tat.  I'm a pansy).  So there goes $35 + The trauma of going into Claire's and explaining why you aren't getting them pierced there. Plus they refused to pierce it due to a small bump on the back of my ear.  TMI?  Sorry.  I couldn't fall asleep last night.  For several reasons.  One being that I was going to the Dermatologist.  It just makes me anxiety ridden...  Like I said, I am a pansy.  So I awake well before the sun.  Decide to go on a walk.  Play some temple run.  Then shower and head out.  So I arrived at 8:45.  For my 9 am appointment with destiny.  Wrong.  According to the not such a morning person associate, my appointment was not until 9:30.  Awesome.  Should have brought Temple Run in.  I filled out the 2.5 million papers and sat there waiting.  Creating terrible vain imaginings and possible outcomes of today's appointment. Yes, I know.  I have issues.  I thought about dashing out of there on several occasions, but I have a dear friend who works there and she could easily hunt me down.  What if  the small bump is CANCER.  What if it is far worse then I ever imagined.  If it's cancer, will I lose my hair?  Will they cut off part of my ear like they did my lip the last time? Now I will never attract a cute husband.. Sheesh.  And what will happen to my unborn children??  See how extreme we went??  It was the office's fault though for leaving me waiting for so dang long.  Do you see where I am going with this?  It was a bad situation.  But I persevered.  Then they called my name.  At 10:04....  I forgot to breathe.  Then headed down the hall to my destiny....  They put me in the room and shut the door.  Left me there to read about skin cancer.  Which then made me thoroughly examine all of my freckles....  Insert more vain imaginings.  After reading about golfers and skin cancer, Dr. Stafford came in.  He looked at my bump.  Then I told him my professional opinion.  He stared at me.  I then listed all of my disclaimers.  He laid down the diagnoses.  You have a cyst.  He added a bunch of medical words, but then assured me it was no worry.  If I want to get my ear pierced I must make an appointment to have the beautiful cyst removed.  Then wait for it to heal.  Then make another appointment.  Then come back and get it pierced.  AIN'T HAPPENING.  No earring is worth all of that.  Sorry.  I will be doing some clip on shopping in the near future.  I happily exited.  Thank God he didn't try to stick a big A needle in my ear. I brought no back up or moral support for me.  I would have panicked and prolly died on the spot.  Here is the kicker.  I saw the Dr for approximately 4 minutes (I timed it).  Guess how much that was??  $156.  Holy Moly.  Thank goodness I found my insurance card....(Thank you Heidi:)  I exited the office much happier than when I entered.  Just a moment ago, I got a concerned call from my fashion advisor, Katie Wags.  Very concerned that I had not gotten stabbed with the needle.  She said, "Sass, you need your ears pierced.  No I don't.  Yes you do.  How are you going to wear diamond earrings??  Well, if I happen to meet someone that wants to give me some diamond earrings, then that cyst is out of here:)  True story.

Here's to the price of beauty.  And to clip ons,

Here goes nothing

I'm sitting here at Starbucks.  It's Thursday night.  9pm.  Isn't this what all the cool people do on Thursday nights?  Maybe not so much.  This is just what I needed.  I've been achy tired all week.  I've been paranoid that I am getting the flu.  But, I think God was giving me a warning sign.  A waring sign to slow down and re charge.  And that is what I am doing.  I brought about 5 books with me here and I have been buried in them. If you didn't know- I am a huge book nerd.  I've been reading all sorts of things.  All sorts of things are on my hear t tonight.  People I care about, things I care about and just general happenings.  But to be honest, I have been thinking about myself a lot.  Last night at Fight Club, I asked them 2 questions.  1- What is your deepest desire?  When I was asked this question, I really wasn't sure about my answer.  Well that's actually not the whole truth.  A whole lot of desires popped up.  But they weren't all Jesus worthy so I immediately was ashamed of myself.  Come on.  You are 26 years old and you aren't sure of your desire???  What have you been doing all this time...  So I thought about it.  A lot.  How can I ask 9 high school girls (who are awesome) what their desire is if I don't even know mine.  So here goes.  My desire is to love God, to love others as God loves them, to truly know God and to see others through Christ's eyes.  Simple right? 2- Are you living your life in a way to satisfy that desire?  Man, kick me while I'm down why don't ya.  In ways, yes I am.  In the obvious ways.  But, deep, deep down- there is a whole lot of room for improvement.  So I am going to try and work some of that out.

This week I started reading A Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp.  So far so good.  She has lots of good little nuggets of wisdom and truth to chew on.  So that is what I will be doing over the next few weeks.  Here is today's nugget.

"Being in a hurry.  Getting to the next thing without fully entering the thing in front of me.  I cannot think of a single advantage I've ever gained from being in a hurry.  But a thousand broken and missed things, tens of thousands, lie in the wake of all the rushing...  through all the haste I thought I was making up time.  It turns out I was throwing it away!  In our rushing We break our own lives.  Haste makes waste.  Hurry always empties a soul. "

So I am going to work on that one. I want to be present to what is in front of me.  Not just for a day.  Or for a month.  FOREVER.  I want time to take things in.  Time to laugh.  I want to live my life well.

So there you have it.  I'm going to really try this.  Hope it works...  Dwight has been playing and singing 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman.  I would be lying if I told you that I haven't listened to it on repeat this entire time at Starbucks.  It makes me want to lie on the floor and cry my eyes out.  The song is so good.  It seriously gets my right in the heart.  I could write a whole nother post on this beautiful song.  I suggest you get it.  Here are the words to my favorite part:

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

So I know this was long.  Sorry.  A little self therapy.

Make good choices,

*I saw Crazy, Stupid Love yesterday.  I loved it.  100%

*I am addicted to a very stupid game.  Temple Run.  However, I have found that I only truly enjoy playing against nightmere and lil clayton jr.  It's way more fun when the competitiveness is oozing.  I also was very excited to play it at work today.  Only to find out that somehow my itouch battery is dead after charging all night!!  What to do what do?  It's killing me.  This is truly the only reason I want an iPhone.  And all the cool people have them... ha ha.  Oh, you don't have an iPhone? #youcan'tsitwithus

*I love Mozzo.  All the time.

*I became a legit adult today.  Yes, it is true.  I opened an IRA.  Yes.  I guess there is no going back now...

*I am still addicted to Pinterest.  An no, I have not actually made anything yet.

*Please click on the link to your right to entertain yourself (

*My ear is getting re-pierced on Fri.  I'm scared.  Don't make me go....

Today I took Stephen and Ryan's engagement pics.  It was pretty funny.  Not going to lie.  I'm so tired at the moment, so I am going to post some bloopers from the day...  The legit ones are coming later...
Yeah... I laughed a lot.  Lots of good awkward moments to go around.  I love these two.  They are near and dear.  Serious ones to come:)

Tonight I got to go on a pre wedding food tasting with Stephen and Ryan.  I seriously died and went to foodie heaven.  We went to Biggies, which is the old Granvilles.  Go there.  Now.  I know it was going to be off the chain when I saw the drink menu.  I was overwhelmed.  I went with the app mac (I think).  It had Cinnamon, scotch, honey, and other stuff.  It could be a favorite.  Then came the food
My new buddy
Deviled eggs
Truffle fries and parm
grilled pimento cheese sandwiches
They just kept bringing the dishes...
 Everyone was losing it...
I could get used to this
 Observe the pinkie of class
Favorite delicacy of the night-BBQ w/honey Dijon mustard on cheese biscuit
 Fried catfish and chicken tacos
I must have said something bad and or inappropriate..
 yep.. looks that way
Fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and balsamic.  I forgot to catch this one when it landed.. they went pretty fast
Shrimp and grits. I could literally only take one bit, but it looked so scrumptious

I'd have to say that I have a new favorite little restaurant to be hitting up...  I'm now going to lapse back into the food coma...  Good thing I walked the bridge twice today...  Looks like I will be doing it again tomorrow.  And the next day.  And the next day...
